The name of the group is called "Fusion 4:12" Coming from the verse in Timothy that says, "Don't let anyone
think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live,
in your love, your faith, and your purity."
The group alternates between First United Methodist Church in Gonzales and Carpenter's Chapel on a monthly
basis. It is a joint youth group encompassing the youth from both churches and uses the resources from both
sites to better facilitate the group.
A youth council has been formed with representatives from both First Methodist of Gonzales and Carpenters Chapel.

This year we have the opportunity to attend Northshore’s Weekend of the Cross. Below is some basic information, including: who, when, where, and how much. Please check your calendars and let us know if you will be able to attend. I need to have an estimated number of youth and adults to pre-register the group. We are required to meet a 4:1, youth to adult, ratio. If you are interested in attending and your calendar is clear for July 26-29th, please reply to this email and let us know. We will take care of all the registration requirements.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Kimberly in the church office at 225.647.4678 We look forward to hearing from you.
Northshore Weekend of the Cross July 26 - 29, 2012
What is Weekend of the Cross? W.O.C. is a Christ-driven mission opportunity for youth, offered by the Baton Rouge and New Orleans Districts each year. The goal of W.O.C. is to spread the love and grace of Jesus Christ to those in need. W.O.C. primarily uses repair and maintenance opportunities as a doorway to share the good news of the gospel. While at the four-day event, youth experience unconditional giving like that of a servant. They will also experience heart-stirring worship, dynamic Bible study, and will form new friendships by serving with other youth.
Where is it and what is the cost? W.O.C. will be changing locations this year to Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Slidell, LA. There we will team up with the Epworth Project to serve those in need of home repairs in St. Tammany Parish, on the Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain. This year we have been able to lower the cost of the weekend to $75 per participant. This includes lodging, all meals, and materials for projects. All registration fees are non-refundable. There are a limited number of scholarships available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Who can attend and participate? Any youth who has completed 6th through 12th grade may come with their church. Every church group attending must have one adult for every four youth. We depend on adult participants to provide transportation to and from job sites, so we request that adults drive vehicles that can transport at least four passengers.
